how would you respond to the following quote.....i got this from a pro jw site.
i don't post on the site, just read.......i just wanted to know how you all would respond to this post.never let anyone cause you to doubt the organization...true there have been changes in the past in which the society readily admits to but the bottom line is that this is the channel jehovah has chosen...remember the vision of his chariot...those wheels could change any direction on a dime...it is our responsibility to move with that chariot and keep up otherwise we will be left behind with nothing better to do than finding fault with this precious organization!.
i would like to know more about the chariot wheels too....
That sounds like more of the typical Watch Tower Society bafflegab
i.e. Some feeble excuse, followed by dogmatic statement to the effect that this is "The Channel the God is using":

of all the privileges only brothers may have, doing mics seemed to be one of the most tedious.
it was definitely something you could graduate from... but why?
when i was the sound guy, it was always so hard to get brothers to do the mics.
I can never recall seeing an Elder waving a microphone around.
The impression that you got was that it was a role assigned to those being considered for Ministerial Servant.
However, the congregation that I was with in Christchurch, New Zealand during 1982-1983, used unbaptised boys exclusively. (The fact that their father was an Elder had, of course, no bearing on the matter!)
Meanwhile, those of us who were wanting to progress towards Ministerial Servant - but who were not part of that #$%&ing Inner Circle - sat on the sidelines.
Yeah - as the title of this post says - we did used to consider such things as "Privileges".

i hear and read alot about peoples experiences and some are pretty horrendous....does anyone actually feel they have benefited from being a jw at least in one way or another...me personally i feel i benefited from the ministry school as public speaking is part of my job and has definately improved career prospects?.

The only good thing I learned from them was public speaking - courtesy of the Ministry School.
However, I would hasten to add that the price paid for that was far too high!
(I don't even have to use that skill anymore)
ever wonder how some of those brothers wrote such elloquent talks?
i just found out ( puternut told me) their wives wrote them for them.
that must be why they always clapped so loud for their husbands!
I had never even heard of such an event, until I read this just now!
I certainly wrote all of my own talks - with absolutely no help asked for or given by anyone else:
- including my wife!
did you , when you were a 'proper' jw, or even a jw of any description, believe that after armageddon you wouldn't have to go to the meetings and out on field service anymore?
surely, after armageddon the control and work from jehovah would get even greater and the nightmare of being a jw would truly never end.. do you get my drift or have i had too much merlot?.
i ask this because my father told me that 'they' needed all these new khs for when the dead are resurrected and they have to look after them and study with them.
We all know of parsons in "Babylon the Great" who do not believe in what they are preaching..
How many JW Elders fit the same description?
its my experience after actually being an elder for a number of years that there are in fact...two types of elder.. type 1....genuine, actually cares about the people in the congregation and wasn't actually bothered too much if he became an elder or not.. type 2....very legalistic, cares more about organizational laws rather than people and lacks compassion and empathy.
this type is more of a spiritual policeman.
he wanted desperately to be an elder and now that he is, he loves the sense of power and prestige.. this has been my experience and if there are more type 2 elders on a body, the results can be disastrous.. what has been your experience???
We have all seen the type No.2 Elder!
The one I have in mind even developed quite a Peacock Strut after appointment.
it was my experience during my 13 yrs as a jw that congregations usually had a social clique.
in other words, there would be a group of people in a congregation that would only associate (and sometimes only go out on field service too) with people within that social clique.
if you were in the clique, fine.
It varied from congregation to congregation.
One I was with in the early eighties was very cliquey.
The one I ended up with wasn't
i used to love break time.
especially if it was afternoon service, and we stopped at taco bell.
i used to be damn good at eating tacos in the car without spilling anything.
I identify with those who have commented either "nothing" or "the end".\
along the lines of old soul's plea to afin, and afin's in abiltily to provide scriptual guidance/proof/support for old soul's questions; i began to think.. have you ever given guidance/support/councel with the written publications because there were no scriptures?.
when i was a mini-servant around 1984, there was a "brother" who would brag about his oral sex encounters with his new wife.
i knew it was "wrong" (also a little crude), but i coundn't find a scripture for the councel.
Yes, I would have to admit. Furthermore , I saw it done all the bloody time by others, too!
your problem.
you have been taught when relationships don't go well it is your responsibility to correct the situation.
when you get angry it is okay for you to express that anger but "society" says he must be in control no matter the situation.
This "crisis" does not necessarily erupt from out of nowhere, as might be uggested by this article.
The issues that cause it can be festering away for many years,even decades beforehand - and certainly well before a man enters the 40 - 60 year old "Middle Age." Yes, I am speaking from experience here!
Another thing I learned from experience: - having ones life already screwed up by Watch Tower Society didn't help.. Certainly not on the question of ones identity. (How could it - not only is the person you are told to be by THEM not you - it is also something that doesn't work!)
